To participate in the EconChallenge ONLINE!, begin by registering using the Green Teacher Registration tab to the left. OCEE will verify your registration - contact OCEE at the link above if you are not granted access withing 24-48 hours. Teachers who have previously registered can continue to use the previous registration login.
Teams in either Division shall consist of a minimum of three (3) students and a maximum of four (4) students.
- Adam Smith: students enrolled in any two semester econ macro and micro course sequence or any course labeled as AP, IB, honors, or differentiated. If a student previously participated in the David Ricardo Division, they must register for Adam Smith in this year's competition.
- David Ricardo: any one semester, introductory or general, combined macro and micro economics course. Teams are encouraged to compete in the division that would challenge them the most.
After creating the teams teachers will be provided unique access codes for each student. Distribute these access codes to your students when they are ready to take the online Challenge.
State Qualifing Round (online)
- The Oregon EconChallenge ONLINE qualifying test must be held during the month of March. Team coaches choose the exact start time that best suits their schedules for the online qualifier at any time during the testing window.
- Each student will be given 35 minutes but all team members must complete the exam within a 3-hour timeframe. Students enter the EconChallenge ONLINE! website and complete a 30 question rapid fire exam consisting of microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics and current events.
- Each student will take a different randomly selected exam from a pool of questions in the database.
- Scoring: the sum of the top three individual scores on each team make up the team score. Scoring on individual tests are as follows:
- +10 points for each correct answer
- 0 points for each incorrect answer
- 0 points for each unanswered question
- The winners of the EconChallenge ONLINE! will receive notification once the competition has ended.

Responsibility of the School
- This is an On-Line competition. It is the school’s responsibility to secure computers that can provide an uninterrupted signal to the testing site. The Oregon Council on Economic Education cannot be held responsible for students or teams that are unable to complete the test due to computer problems at the school.
The test cannot be reset due to computer errors at the school.
- The school is responsible for maintaining an uninterrupted environment for students to test. The test cannot be reset due to circumstances such as bells ringing, fire alarms, students being called out of the classroom or any such event.
- The school is responsible for providing a proctored testing area. Students must be supervised by a school staff member at all times.
- The Oregon Council on Economic Education cannot be held responsible for students or teams that are unable to complete the test due to computer problems at the school.

State Championship
The State Champioinship will be held in-person TBD during the week of April 16-20.
The State Champiionship is held in two rounds.
- The first round consists of an individual, timed mulltiple choice test and a team timed multiple choice/short answer test.
- The top two teams from the qualifier round will compete head-to-head in a Quiz Bowl style test.
- OCEE board members will administer and grade both first round tests and serve as judges for the State Championship round.
National Competion
a. The winning team from Oregon will be recognized as the Oregon State Champion.
b. The winning state team earns the right to compete in the online qualifiing round for the National Economics Challenge. At that competition, all National Rules apply.
c. Generally the National qualifier is held within two weeks of the State Championship.
d. The winning team is allowed to reconstitute some of its team members for the National Competition, per the National Rules
