Missouri Economics Challenge Rules
The Missouri Economics Challenge follows the rules for the NationalEconomicsChallenge developed by the Council for Economic Education.

Each teacher and student are advised to carefully review the competition rules.
Competition Divisions:
- Adam Smith Division: for high-school students who completed or are enrolled in a two-semester or advanced economcis course labeled as AP, IB, honors, or other designation. If a student previously participated in the David Ricardo Division, they must register for the Adam Smith Division in this year's competition.
- David Ricardo Division: for high-school students who completed or are enrolled in any one semester, general, or introductory economics course. No member of a David Ricardo team shall have taken more than one basic course in economics. Students may only compete in this division one year.

Middle School Division: for middle-school students who completed or are enrolled in an economics course or other economic education.
Completing the Challenge:
- Students must compete in teams of 3-4 students.
- When it is time for students to complete the challenge, they will go to https://econchallenge.unl.edu/Missouri/Welcome. Then they will select "Student Access" and enter the unique access code that was assigned to them. They will then complete a short identification and challenge integrity confirmation before they begin the challenge. - Once started, each student will have 35 minutes to complete the online exam, and all team members must complete the exam within the same 3 hour window.
- The online exam cannot be paused and students cannot skip questions.
- Students must complete the online exam whtout any assistance or aids.

This year's state challenge is open for students during March 16 - April 4, 2025.
Challenge Exam:
- The challenge consists of an online exam with 30 multiple-choice questions covering the following topics:
- Microeconomics
- Macroeconomics
- International economics
- Individual Exam Scoring:
- +10 points for each correct answer
- 0 points for each incorrect answer
- Team Scoring: the sum of the top three individual scores on each team make up the team score.
Determining the State Champion

The State Champion team in each division in Missouri will be determined as the highest-scoring team in each division on the online exam. In case of a tie, the team completing the exam in the shortest time will be designated as the State Champion.

The State Champion team will be invited to participate in the NationalEconomicsChallenge Semi-Finals.
