Arizona EC Divisions
Adam Smith: students enrolled in any AP, IB, Honors Economics or a course designated as two semesters of Economics in high school. Students competing for a second year of high school Economics Challenge competition must compete in this division, thus any student who previously participated in the David Ricardo Division, must register for Adam Smith in this year's competition.
David Ricardo: any one semester, introductory or general, combined macro and micro economics course. Teams are encouraged to compete in the division that would challenge them the most. See official rules at Economics Challenge. 8th grade students who participate in a one semester credit introductory level economics course should be entered in the David Ricardo Division.
Milton Freidman: any middle school team.
Arizona EC Rounds of Competition
1st Round - Online testing
2nd Round - Finals - Quiz Bowl
Online Testing session:
Fall November 18 - December 6, 2024
Spring March 17 - March 28, 2025
Teams of 3 - 4 students will have 60 minutes to complete a 45-question online exam consisting at 15 questions from each of the following: microeconomics, macroeconomics, and global economics. Teams can compete in the online challenge during the Fall testing session and/or the Spring testing session.
Arizona Economics Challenge Finals - April 11th, 2025:
Top scoring teams will be invited to the in-person Finals to be held on April 11th, 2025. The final round of competition consists of a fast-paced Quiz Bowl. Additionally, all teams are encouraged to compete in the Economics Critical Thinking Case Study Competition.
Arizona Economic Challenge State Champions will qualify to be the Arizona representatives to National Economics Challenge Competition! State Champions will be the team from EACH division with the highest cumulative score from the EC and the Economics Critical Thinking competition.
